About us
Architecture and engineering, built from one source.
Formlinecoach Architects is a Kyiv-based integrated studio where architects and structural engineers share a model, a deadline and a standard of care from the first sketch to the final inspection.
Our story
Sixteen years of buildings that stand up and stand the test of time
Formlinecoach Architects was founded in Kyiv in 2009 by a group of architects and engineers who had grown frustrated watching co-ordination failures between separate architecture and engineering firms eat into project budgets, timelines and quality. Their answer was simple: bring both disciplines under the same roof, working from the same drawings on day one.
What began as a five-person practice has grown to a twenty-eight-strong studio with completed projects ranging from 2,000 m² residential blocks in the Pechersk district to a 15,000 m² logistics complex outside Boryspil. Through every phase of Ukraine's development — and the significant challenges the country has faced since 2022 — we have continued to deliver for clients who need an architecture and engineering partner they can count on.
Today, Formlinecoach works on residential, commercial, civic and industrial projects across Kyiv and other regions of Ukraine, maintaining the same standard of integrated documentation and site follow-through that has defined the practice since the beginning.
Our mission
To build Ukraine's built environment better — one rigorous, integrated project at a time
We exist to close the gap between architectural ambition and structural reality — producing buildings that are as well-engineered as they are well-conceived, and as well-documented as they are well-designed.
What we value
The principles that drive every decision
Structural Honesty
Every design choice we make is defensible structurally. Architecture and engineering must agree, not compromise each other.
Documentation Discipline
A drawing set is a legal and technical document. We treat it with the rigour it deserves — complete, co-ordinated and buildable.
Long-View Thinking
We consider the life of a building across decades, not just the delivery of a scheme. Materials, maintenance and adaptability are part of every design.
Clear Communication
Clients should understand the decisions being made on their behalf. We explain our reasoning, flag risks early and do not hide complexity.
Buildability First
A design is only finished when it can be built efficiently. We test every concept against construction sequence, available materials and the realities of the Ukrainian contractor market.
Accountable to the End
We stay on the project through construction, not just to the issue of drawings. Site queries are ours to answer, and we own the coordination of what we have documented.
Our team
Architects and engineers who have worked on site, not just in studio
Our twenty-eight specialists include licensed architects (члени Спілки архітекторів України), structural engineers and technical designers. Every project is led by a senior architect and a lead structural engineer who remain responsible from brief to completion — not passed to juniors after the concept phase.
Our journey
Milestones, 2009 — 2026
Seventeen years of deliberate growth — expanding capability without compromising the quality that built our reputation.
Studio founded
Formlinecoach Architects established in Kyiv by founding principal Oleh Marchenko and four colleagues. First commission: a 12-apartment residential building in Shevchenkivskyi district.
Structural engineering capability added
Dmytro Kovalenko joins as head of structural engineering, making Formlinecoach one of Kyiv's first genuinely integrated architecture-and-structures studios under one licence.
50th project milestone & SAU membership
Studio awarded full membership of the Спілка архітекторів України. Practice reaches 50 completed projects — majority in the Kyiv residential sector.
First commercial & civic commissions
Formlinecoach's first office complex (Podil, 3,200 m²) and first civic facility (Kyiv Oblast kindergarten, 1,400 m²) completed — expanding the studio's typology range beyond residential.
BIM adoption & team growth to 18
Full transition to Autodesk Revit-based BIM delivery across all projects. Interior architecture team formed under Natalia Pylypenko. Headcount reaches 18.
ISO 9001 certification & GBC membership
Quality management system certified to ISO 9001:2015. Formlinecoach joins the Green Building Council Ukraine as an associate member, extending sustainability advisory to clients.
100th project & first industrial commission
Practice marks its 100th completed project. Boryspil Logistics Hub Phase 1 (8,400 m²) completed — first large-scale industrial commission and opening of a new sector for the studio.
Continuity through wartime
Formlinecoach maintained full operations in Kyiv throughout the most difficult period. Project delivery continued for clients in stable regions; the studio also contributed structural assessment expertise to post-shelling building safety surveys in Kyiv Oblast.
200+ projects & western Ukraine expansion
Active project portfolio passes 200 completed commissions. First Lviv-based education project breaks ground. Formlinecoach registers with ДІАМ for expanded state expertise scope.
28-strong team, 240+ projects
Studio reaches 28 specialists across architecture, structural engineering and interior design. 240+ completed projects. Active commissions in Kyiv, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk and Poltava regions.
Responsibility & community
Contributing beyond the drawing board
Formlinecoach believes an architecture studio has responsibilities that extend beyond its fee agreements. Since 2022 we have formalised that belief into concrete commitments.
Post-war structural assessments
Since March 2022, Formlinecoach has contributed over 400 hours of pro-bono structural engineering time to Ukrainian municipal bodies, assessing damaged residential and civic buildings in Kyiv Oblast to determine safety and repair feasibility. Work conducted in partnership with ДСНС local offices.
Architecture education & mentorship
Three senior Formlinecoach architects hold visiting critic roles at Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture (КНУБА). We host two student placement positions each semester and provide structured mentorship leading to junior architect roles for graduates who excel.
Sustainable design commitment
As a GBC Ukraine member, Formlinecoach commits to including a passive-performance analysis on all residential projects above 1,000 m² — at no additional fee — to support Ukraine's transition to energy-efficient housing stock and compliance with DBN B.2.6-31 energy performance standards.
